I created this project with an image grid to convey things about my life and make me who I am.
To every person, things have different meanings. They are associated with our experiences and memories. Whether joyful or sad, objects in our daily lives have emotions attached to them. For this project, "This Is Me," I found some inspiration in the work of Paula Zuccotti. Her project "Every Thing We Touch" gave me ideas on what to photograph and how I go about it. I chose to pick objects that have significant meaning to me and show who I am. What makes me is myself, so I started with a self-portrait at the center. I love watches and have worn one daily for the past five years. I placed my watch on the right of this portrait because it is always there, constantly ticking, almost like a "right hand man." Shoes are how I get around, representing freedom because I can go anywhere with them. Orange is my favorite color, just like my bike. Mountain biking is one of my favorite ways to destress. In high school, I spend a vast portion of my time writing and typing; when I see my computer, I think of my photography, and my pen makes me remember my AP European History notes and finger pain. Every image can say "a thousand words," just like an object can, and I wanted to let these words flow out about who I am.
